...vision week...

so it has been awhile since my last entry and so much has happened... it was vision week at work last week. one may ask... what is vision week? it is basically a "celebration" of our company's core values and at the end of the week, the president of my company will come and do a presentation about updates of where the company is at and they will also award an associate in the san francisco office who exemplifies core values. so i never really thought about this vision award... when i first heard about it i thought only managers could win this award because it is a pretty big deal award. so going into the meeting, i just never really thought anything about this award, especially winning it! so when the president of my company began the portion of the meeting where they would award the associate with the vision award, i began to pay better attention... she began to read the nomination letter. as she read the letter, i was thinking about the things she was saying and i was thinking to myself that i've done things like that before. then she began to talk about how long they have been here and what team they were on... when she said "she began on this dept and is now on this team..." i began to think "is this me?! did i win?" jackie and greg (who are on my team) began to say "marj, marj, it's you! it's you!" all of a sudden... they show the name of the person who won on the screen and it said... "margorie halili" i was so SHOCKED! i couldn't believe it... they spelled my name wrong! i was really in shock and i didn't know what to say or do. i just sat there until they waved me to come up to the front of the room. the vision award is such a prestigious award (to quote nannette) and according to sheryl, it's like winning employee of the year. i was really surprised because i didn't think i would win this... so what exactly did i win? not only did i get a plaque, i got a check for $2000. whoa! this came at such a great time since eric and i are going to hawaii in two and a half weeks. i also get to go to dallas in March for a conference. it's pretty exciting cause i got to meet the president of our parent company and i get recognized for the all the hard work that i do... it was pretty embarrassing cause everyone at work was coming up to me and they still are saying congratulations to me, but i have to admit it was nice being in the spotlight for a little bit...
