from a different view...

i love baseball and we go to many, many games. we have had the view of the field from the bleachers, from the second to the third deck, from eight rows from the bullpen. as a fan, you would never have a view looking up at the stands. but i actually had the opportunity to see what the stands look like from a players point of view.

i was lucky enough to get a tour of SBC park for an event that i am helping plan. i parked my car by lot b and had to cross the street and go over the bridge to get to the executive office. it was weird to be there when there wasn't a game going on cause there was no one really there. once i got closer to the park, i saw that the scoreboard was on and it had a welcome sign for the group that i was with. it was so cool to see your name in lights. i was starting to get more excited... we met up with the guide and we were able to enter the park through the players entrance! ok, hello! i've never thought i would enter through a side gate! we walked in an area that not many people get to go through. we make our way to the area that the event may possibly be held and it over looked the field. it was so surreal to see the field and see all the empty seats. the view was beautiful... mind you, i'm not a big giants fan but sbc is beautiful and the view of the bay behind the park, i was speechless. i fell in love instantly with the space but then again i am biased being a baseball fan. after the tour, our guide asked if we wanted to see the batting tunnel. of course i did! we walked down to the lower section of the park and actually got to walk on the field!!!! i was in awe because i felt smaller than i already do being in such a huge place. i was looking up at the seats and thought wow! i looked around me and thought how amazing is this being on a baseball field... so on to the batting tunnel, but in order to get to the tunnel you had to go into the dugout. i actually stepped foot in the giant's home dugout. i was so excited and i wished i had my camera! it was so weird to be in the same area that the players are in when they are playing a game... it was so cool to be seeing the field from that perspective.

being on the field and in the dugout was enough to sell me on that place. it was the highlight of my week... maybe i should try to schedule another visit just to make sure that we want our even there!
