it started like any friday... i was anxious for the day to fly by so that we can all go to el torito for happy hour. as i was staring blankly at my computer monitor, i heard don bleu on k101 talk about rachael ray and how he is going to ask her to make a 30 minute meal. i was thinking to myself "hmmm... she must be in town?" so i opened up google (my favorite website) and searched "rachael ray san francisco." one of the results was a listing on sfgate so i checked that and discovered that she was indeed her doing book signings in berkeley and san francisco. all of a sudden i panicked! i had to call ponce!!!! i didn't know what to do as i fumbled for my cell phone... damn! no reception. would he answer a private call if i used my work line? damn, he didn't so i left a hurried message. shoot this can't wait. so i looked at my cell phone and found 1 bar... that will have to do. i finally got a hold of him and shared my news - RACHAEL RAY is here! so we made plans to meet up later to finally see our favorite food network chef.
so after eric and i went to el torito for a drink or two or three, i flew to the marina district in san francisco to where the book signing was. ponce got there around 6 and the signing started at 7. eric and i made it there by 7 and was able to jump in line with ponce and his pal audrey (thanks guys!). we stood in line anxiously for about and hour and we talked about what we were going to say to her, how we were going to take a picture with her even though there was no posing, and we also talked about how rock stared out she was now compared to when she first came out. so we got closer and this is what we saw and then time just went in fast forward.

we got closer and we could her talking and laughing which was pretty crazy because we were only used to hearing her voice coming from the tv. then things just went really fast. all of a sudden ponce was in front of her and she was saying something about being a good son for getting a book signed for his mom. then it was my turn and this is what i remembered.
rachael: marjorie!
marj: hi!
rachael: how cute are you!
marj: (giggling) we are such big fans and we watch your show every night!
rachael: (laughing) great! uh oh... your face is looking a little drunk
marj: that's ok... i kinda am anyway
rachael: that's what i like a girl after my own heart
marj: (giggling) thanks... it was nice meeting you
then i turned to ponce and smiled for my pic of me and rachael while she was signing my book. but then from the corner of my eye i can see her turn and smile too! omg! a pic with rachael... i was so ecstatic!

eric then got his book signed for ray and we were all high with excitement! it was a pretty exciting moment for all of us since we were all big fans. when we exited the store there was a really long line and we realized we were hungry and headed to barney's for dinner. during dinner we just excitedly talked about rachael and meeting her.

this ranks up there when i met eric chavez! i can't believe that i actually met my favorite food network chef! this was the best day ever!
